Lanzarote has plenty of attractions designed especially for children and family fun. Water parks, animal encounters, the Aquarium and go-karting can add variety to a family holiday and give younger travellers a break from traditional sightseeing.

💦 Aqualava Water Park

Aqualava Water Park in Playa Blanca is a family water park inspired by Lanzarote’s volcanic landscape. It is compact, with attractions designed for both younger children and older kids who can enjoy the larger slides. One of its main advantages is its geothermally heated pools, allowing the park to remain open all year round.

🏎️ Gran Karting Club Lanzarote

Gran Karting Club Lanzarote is one of the island’s largest motorsport attractions and is aimed mainly at older children, teenagers and adults. The complex has several different tracks and go-karts suited to different ages and levels of experience. There is also a small Baby Track for children aged 2–6, allowing even the youngest visitors to enjoy their first adventure on four wheels.

The main attraction, however, is the real karting experience. Older children can drive go-karts independently and, as they get older and gain experience, move on to more powerful karts and more challenging tracks. Interestingly, adults can also choose a Junior-category kart and drive on the same track alongside their child.

🏁 Tracks: Gran Karting Club currently has 6 tracks – International Track, Race Track, Evolution Track, RC Track, Kids Track and Baby Track. The main professional track is 1,200 metres long.

👶 Who is it for? Children, teenagers and adults, although the full karting experience is definitely more appealing to older children and teenagers. The Baby Track is designed for children aged 2–6, while children aged 7–10 can use the Kids Track and suitable go-karts. However, age is not the only factor that determines whether a child is allowed to drive. They must be able to reach the pedals safely, have enough strength to steer the kart and understand the driving rules. The final decision on whether a child can use the track is made by the staff.

⏱️ How much time? Individual drives are short – available packages include 8-minute sessions. However, it is worth allowing extra time for registration, preparation and the safety briefing. For online bookings, the venue asks visitors to arrive 15–20 minutes before their scheduled time.

🎟️ Tickets: prices depend on the type of go-kart and the chosen session. Individual sessions, packages and race formats such as Mini Grand Prix and Grand Prix are available. It is best to check current prices in the booking system before your visit, as the venue reserves the right to change them.

⚠️ Important before getting into a Go-Kart

Long hair must be tied back and securely tucked away before driving. It should not be left loose where it could become caught in moving parts of the go-kart. Scarves, loose belts, cords and other dangling items of clothing should also be secured.

💡 Zwiedzo-Maniacy tip: If your child is going to drive independently for the first time, do not choose a go-kart category based solely on age. Staff will also check whether the young driver can comfortably reach the pedals and safely control the vehicle.

🏎️ Lanzarote Karting

Lanzarote Karting is a popular go-kart track in San Bartolomé, designed for children taking their first steps into karting as well as teenagers and adults. The main track is around 1,000 metres long, and several kart categories make it possible to choose a vehicle suited to the driver’s age, height and experience.

👶 Who is it for?

Ages 3–6 – Kiddies Electric Karts: small electric vehicles on a separate mini track. If a child does not feel confident, an adult can sit behind them and help with steering.

Ages 7–11 – Cadet 160 cc: children drive independently. The minimum height is around 125 cm; before allowing a child onto the track, staff check that they can properly operate the steering wheel, brake and accelerator.

From age 4 and at least 90 cm tall – two-seater kart: a child can ride as a passenger, while the driver must be at least 18 years old.

Around ages 12–16 – Junior 200 cc: go-karts for older children and teenagers; the power can be restricted by staff. The FAQ states a minimum height of 150 cm for the Junior category.

From age 16 – Adult 200 cc.

From age 16 and for experienced drivers – Pro Kart Extreme 400 cc, powered by two 200 cc engines.

The owners recommend arriving no later than around 16:30, especially during school holidays when it can get busy.

⏱️ How much time? A standard session lasts 8 minutes, but the venue itself recommends allowing up to around 2.5 hours for your visit, including preparation, waiting between drives and additional sessions.

🎟️ Tickets: prices depend on the type of go-kart and the number of sessions. For example, a package of two Cadet sessions currently costs €26, while two Junior/Adult sessions cost €34. A 10% discount is currently available for direct advance bookings.

🚗 Parking: there is a large car park beside the track. Lanzarote Karting also offers free transport from many hotels on the island, subject to advance booking and minimum purchase requirements.

🍕 Food: there is a bar serving drinks, snacks, ice cream, pizza and baguettes. The venue also has a terrace and games room. In general, visitors are not permitted to consume their own food or drinks on the premises without prior agreement.

⚠️ Long Hair – Make Sure It Is Secured Before Driving

Before getting into a go-kart, long hair must be tied back and securely tucked away so that it cannot become caught in any moving parts of the vehicle. Scarves, loose belts, cords and other dangling items of clothing should also be secured.

⛑️ Helmet: Lanzarote Karting provides drivers with full-face helmets and disposable hairnets/caps to wear underneath, but these do not replace the need to secure long hair properly. The venue also recommends closed-toe shoes; flip-flops and Crocs are not suitable for driving.

🐠 Lanzarote Aquarium – An Underwater World in Costa Teguise

Lanzarote Aquarium in Costa Teguise is a great choice for children who would like to discover what lies beneath the surface of the Atlantic and meet some of its inhabitants. Dozens of tanks are home to both species found around the Canary Islands and colourful tropical fish. The large shark tank and underwater tunnel are among the biggest highlights, while children can also enjoy the touch pools, where they can get a closer look at selected marine creatures.

AQUAPARK Costa Teguise is the largest water park on Lanzarote. It offers 25 water slides and 11 pools, with attractions for both younger children and those looking for more exciting water-based fun. The park has swimming pools, dedicated areas for younger children and slides with different levels of difficulty. It is worth allowing at least a few hours for your visit – or even most of the day if your children love the water.
